How to Plan a Class of 1962 Reunion

It has been more than a few years since 1962 high school or college graduation. In that time, people have spread out all over the world, some friends may have passed on, while most have continued their legacy through children and grandchildren. The best way to plan a reunion for your graduating class of 1962, is to keep your options open as to time and logistics, and exhaust all resources in finding former classmates.

Getting the Word out for a 1962 Class Reunion

One of the first things you'll want to do in planning your class of 1962 reunion is to organize a committee, bust out a few old yearbooks, and begin compiling a list of everyone in your graduating class. Once you have the list, it's best to publish it as many places as you can. Buy a few local TV ads, put it in local newspapers, and have a contact number where people can offer their information or get more information. Another great resource is a website, or a page on a social network such as facebook. Classmates.com is a great resource, as is building a website solely for the use of your class. A web-designer can put together a simple database that can help keep everyone connected. You can direct everyone there, pool information, then offer additional information on appropriate times, places and other class reunion variables.

Planning the Party for your Class of 1962 Reunion

A wonderful way to make your class of 1962 reunion memorable, is to build it around memories from the school experience, or from your graduating year of 1962. If you have an event in the evening, perhaps you'd want to compile clips of movies from 1962, or show one of the most popular films from the era, and build a party around it. You can also devise a trivia game of sorts, built upon the facts and figures of your senior year, classmates and overall school experience. Many local business will probably be willing to donate time, resources and prizes to your cause, enabling you to make it a special celebration.

Last, but certainly not least, it's always a great idea to schedule a couple of social functions for your reunion. An outdoor event during the day will allow for family members to join, and not feel locked into conversation. Kids can play, people can mingle and ultimately reconnect. Following a picnic or barbecue with something fun at night is a great way to cap off the celebration. If you have a favorite, local or hot-spot where everyone used to hang out, contact the local owners or authorities and inquire about using it for the reunion. Even if an old building is no longer in business, you can clean up the space and have food catered. The possibilities are limitless. Just keep in mind that if you want as many people there as possible, the Internet will serve as a the best “people finding” source.
